Not sure how to use extra oyster sauce after you bought a bottle for a stir fry? This smash burger recipe showcases some of the best everyday uses of oyster sauce, where it's used to season the burger and make the loco moco gravy that goes on top.
A favorite from Hawaii, all of the components of a classic loco moco recipe are present in this smash burger, but with the rice swapped for buttery brioche buns. There's smash patties seasoned with Lee Kum Kee Oyster Sauce, a rich gravy that's also infused with oyster sauce, and a fried egg to go on top. It's comfort in smash burger form, but is also simple to make and will help build confidence in using oyster sauce across a whole range of other recipes!
Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add beef balls and smash each firmly with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2–3 minutes until edges are crispy, then flip and top with cheese. Cook 1 more minute until melted. Remove from heat.
Spread Lee Kum Kee Sriracha Mayo on the bottom bun. Stack two smashed patties with melted cheese, spoon over warm gravy, top with a fried egg, and add crispy onions if using. Cap with the top bun. Enjoy!
