Spicy, smoky, creamy, rich, and delicious. There's many more words that can describe this Smoky BBQ Smashburger recipe, but those 5 do the best job, especially when combined all together.

That's because within this smashburger recipe lies layers of complexity in textures and flavors, and yet, the entire thing takes under 30 minutes to put together. This makes it perfect for a quick weeknight meal, or something to whip up during a gameday watch party in a pinch.

While bacon provides a smoky foundation and onion rings add a sweet crunch, the real heroes of this recipe are the two sauces. Lee Kum Kee Sriracha Mayo adds a creamy and spicy base to the burger sauce, while the smoky and spicy flavors of Lee Kum Kee Smoky BBQ Flavored Sriracha Sauce makes for the perfect bbq-inspired condiment, bringing all the components of this smashburger together while amping up all the flavors within.

How to make it

  1. Cook the bacon: If using, cook bacon in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat until crisp, about 6–8 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.

Pro Tip: If preparing your onion rings at the same time (ie. frozen onion rings), now is a good time to bake, air fry, or otherwise prepare them.

  2. Prepare and cook the smashburger patties: Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently shape into loose balls. Place the beef balls on a hot skillet, leaving space between each. Place a small piece of parchment paper over each ball, then use a burger press or sturdy spatula to firmly smash into a thin patty. Remove the parchment paper and season with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes, until browned and crisp around the edges.
  3. Add cheese and stack the smashburger patties: Flip the patties and top each with 1 slice of American cheese. Cook for 1-2 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked through. Stack 2 patties together for each burger.
  4. Build the Smoky BBQ Smashburgers: Spread Lee Kum Kee Sriracha Mayo on each bottom bun. Top each bottom bun with  two dill pickle chips, a double smashburger, bacon (if using), and crispy onion rings. Drizzle Lee Kum Kee Smoky BBQ Sriracha. Close with the top bun and serve immediately.
