Make a Cantonese classic in just 30 minutes with this iconic Beef Chow Fun Noodles recipe. The key to getting its signature flavor and color is Lee Kum Kee Premium Dark Soy Sauce.
Essential for adding a deep, rich color to the noodles and stir-fried beef, Premium Dark Soy Sauce is mostly used for color in this dish. Accentuating it with the umami of Lee Kum Kee Premium Soy Sauce and Premium Oyster Sauce is essential. Premium Dark Soy is used here for both the marinade and sauce mix, ensuring the beef is a wonderful golden-brown color when serving.
Make the beef marinade by combining ½ Tbsp. each of Lee Kum Kee Premium Soy Sauce and Premium Dark Soy Sauce in a large bowl. Add 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 Tbsp. cornstarch, ½ Tbsp. Lee Kum Kee White Pepper Powder, and 1 Tbsp. neutral flavored oil. Combine well, then add beef to the marinade and mix well so every piece is fully coated. Set aside for 20 minutes.
While the beef marinades, prep your veggies. Thinly slice the white onion, wash and trim bean sprouts and green onion stalks, and cut the green onions into thirds.
Pre-soak chow fun noodles (wide flat rice noodles) to rehydrate. For fresh noodles, blanch for 1 minute in hot water, rinse in cold water to stop the cooking, then toss with a touch of oil to prevent sticking. For dried noodles, soaked for at least 10 minutes in warm or hot water until pliable.
Make the sauce mix by combining 1 Tbsp. Lee Kum Kee Premium Soy Sauce, 2 tsp. Lee Kum Kee Premium Dark Soy Sauce, 1 Tbsp. Lee Kum Kee Premium Oyster Sauce, 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar, and 2 tsp. neutral cooking oil in a small bowl. Set aside for cooking.
Heat a wok or large frying pan to high heat and add neutral oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the marinated beef and sear for 1 minute on each side, then remove from the heat.
Add the white onions and sauté for 30 seconds, then follow with the green onions and Lee Kum Kee Minced Garlic. Stir fry for another minute, then add the beef back in along with your rice noodles. Stir or toss to combine, then add your sauce mix and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring or tossing gently to coat all the noodles without breaking them. Turn off the heat, toss through 2 tsp. of Lee Kum Kee Pure Sesame Oil to finish, and serve.
