Bò Lúc Lắc, aka Vietnamese Shaking Beef, is a favorite recipe of Chef Tue Nguyen (@twaydabae). She has graciously shared her Vietnamese shaking beef recipe so that everyone can enjoy this classic take on Vietnamese steak at home.
“Shaking Beef” gets its name from the shaking you have to do in the pan to combine the seared steak and the sauce together. The sauce is packed with tons of umami thanks to Lee Kum Kee Premium Soy Sauce and Lee Kum Kee Premium Oyster Sauce and can be ready on the table in just minutes after marinating.
We’re thankful that Chef Tue has shared her recipes with us as part of our #FlavorsofAAPI initiative – share your own favorite Asian dishes or chef stories with the same hashtag and we may feature them as well!
Combine the steak cubes with Lee Kum Kee Premium Oyster Sauce, Premium Soy Sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and Lee Kum Kee Minced Garlic. Mix well to combine, cover, and let marinade for a half hour. DO NOT marinade for more than 60 minutes, otherwise the meat will start to get tough.
Heat a wok or large frying pan on high heat with your neutral oil. Add steak and let sear on one side until well browned, about 2-3 minutes.
Add your butter then shake the beef in the pan vigorously for a minute or two. Make sure there are no raw sides of the steak and that the sauce has coated the shaking beef evenly.
Transfer to a dish with veggies of choice and serve with steamed rice on the side. Enjoy!
