Traditional Philadelphia cheesesteaks are served in a hoagie roll, but this hoisin Philly cheesesteak bites recipe uses biscuits and adds a dash of Asian-style sweetness and spice with the use of Lee Kum Kee Hoisin Sauce and Sriracha Mayo.
Why We Love It
The meshing of hoisin and Philly cheesesteak flavors in this dish makes for a powerful punch of flavor.
Philly cheesesteaks are packed with savory goodness from roast beef, tempered by the gooey texture and mild, creamy flavor of the cheese. Add to that the sweetness of hoisin and the gentle spice of sriracha mayo, and you’ve got a unique flavor profile you won’t be able to get enough of.
The use of buttermilk biscuits instead of hotdog buns or hoagie rolls in this hoisin Philly cheesesteak bites recipe is also pure genius because it makes each bite easier to eat, with less mess.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter. Cook 1 teaspoon of Lee Kum Kee Minced Garlic, onions, and green peppers until onions are browned and green peppers are softened. Remove from the pan and set aside.
In the same pan, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and cook roast beef, Lee Kum Kee Hoisin Sauce, and remaining 1 teaspoon of Lee Kum Kee Minced Garlic until caramelized, about 4 minutes.
Place down 2 pieces of provolone on each biscuit. Top with 1 tablespoon of the onion and green pepper mix and 1 tablespoon of roast beef. Lay 2 pieces of American cheese on top of the roast beef. Gather the edges of the biscuits around the toppings and pinch to seal.
Place in a greased, round baking dish with the seams down. Brush the tops with olive oil. Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes. Serve warm with Lee Kum Kee Sriracha Mayo for dipping. Enjoy!
