This one pan chicken orzo recipe brings together Lee Kum Kee oyster sauce, succulent chicken, and a creamy orzo for the ultimate savory comfort meal.

Oyster sauce serves as the key ingredient to this whole recipe. Used to season both the chicken and the creamy orzo, it shows off its versatility in this recipe when it comes to adding umami and sweetness. It pairs well with both the savory and juicy chicken, deepening the umami of the meat, and also brings out the salty and nutty flavors of the Parmesan cheese in the creamy orzo. The result is a meal that tastes like it took hours to build from scratch but is ready in just 45 minutes.

How to make it

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Trim excess skin from the chicken thighs and score the skin. Season both sides with salt, 1 tsp black pepper, paprika, onion powder, and brush with 1 Tbsp Lee Kum Kee Panda Brand Oyster Sauce.
  2. Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken skin-side down for 5 minutes until golden; flip and cook for another 3 minutes. Transfer chicken to a plate.
  3. Discard excess grease. Add butter, chopped onion, Lee Kum Kee Minced Garlic and mushrooms. Cook 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in orzo and cook for 1 minute to toast slightly.
  4. Add oregano, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, thyme and remaining 1 tsp black pepper. Pour in chicken stock, wine, and 2 Tbsp Lee Kum Kee Panda Brand Oyster Flavored Sauce. Stir to combine and nestle chicken back on top.
  5. Cover the skillet and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, take out chicken temporarily, and stir in cream and parmesan. Return chicken on top and serve hot. Garnish with green onions and enjoy!
