A comfort classic with a twist, this Swedish meatballs recipe is paired with creamy pasta for the ultimate hearty meal!

 

Swedish meatballs are a wonderful blend of savory and tangy thanks to the sour cream gravy they are coated in. To boost the umami in both the meatballs and the pasta, don't forget to add Lee Kum Kee Panda Brand Oyster Flavored Sauce. A simple dash of it is perfect for adding umami with ease, and it will help bring out the flavor of both the meatball spices and the sour cream in the gravy. Great for a warm winter meal or when you're craving comfort food!

How to make it

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, grated onion, panko, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, black pepper, and 1 Tbsp Lee Kum Kee Panda Brand Oyster Sauce. Mix just until combined and roll into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Heat 1 Tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and sear until browned and cooked through. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt 2 Tbsp butter. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth and thickened. Whisk in the remaining 1 Tbsp Lee Kum Kee Panda Brand Oyster Flavored Sauce and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Remove the skillet from heat. In a small bowl, temper the room-temperature sour cream by whisking in a ladle of the hot sauce until smooth. Slowly whisk the tempered sour cream back into the skillet until the sauce is creamy and combined.
  5. Return the meatballs to the sauce and coat. Spoon the mixture over the cooked pasta, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.
