Transform a can of beans into a hearty, comforting, and flavor-packed meal with this creamy beans recipe!

Beans are one of the most wholesome foods for the cold winter season. They're best in creamy, warming bowls that come packed with protein and fiber, with the goal being how to amp up the flavor of a can of beans. This recipe finds that answer in a blend of aromatics, such as spring onion and garlic, richness from Parmesan cheese, and Lee Kum Kee sauces that provide a balance of flavors. You get a backnote of umami and richness from Lee Kum Kee Panda Brand Oyster Flavored Sauce, while Lee Kum Kee Honey Sriracha Sauce adds a sweet and spicy finish to the creamy beans recipe.

Perfect with a piece of crusty bread, this recipe comes together in just 20 minutes! It works best with a white bean, like cannellini or butter beans, but you can try out whatever kinds of beans you have in your pantry.

How to make it

  1. Heat aromatics: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the white parts of the green onions and garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes, until softened and fragrant.
  2. Add beans and season: Stir in butter beans and Lee Kum Kee Panda Brand Oyster Flavored Sauce. Cook for 1 minute, gently stirring to coat the beans.
  3. Build sauce: Add vegetable broth and heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce begins to thicken.
  4. Season with cheese and pepper: Reduce heat to low and stir in parmesan and black pepper. Cook for 1–2 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
  5. Garnish and serve: Spoon the creamy butter beans into a shallow serving bowl. Drizzle with Lee Kum Kee Honey Sriracha Sauce and top with the reserved green onions. Serve warm with toasted crusty bread.
