Add the yeast, water, and 2 tsp. of the sugar to a large bowl. Allow the mixture to stand until the yeast activates and it turns foamy.
-
Add in the remaining sugar, milk, butter, Lee Kum Kee Pure Sesame Oil, 5 of the eggs, salt, and 6 cups of the flour. Mix the dough and when it begins to form a ball, knead it together with your hands. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle in the remaining flour a little at a time until the dough is tacky but does not stick to your hands. Knead for about 6-7 minutes.
-
Spray a large bowl with cooking spray then place the dough inside. Spray the top of the dough with cooking spray then cover with plastic wrap. Allow the dough to double in size in a warm area for about 40 minutes to an hour.
-
Punch the dough down to release any air then divide it in half. Cut each half into 3 evenly sized pieces and roll them out until they form a 12-inch long rope. Braid the 3 strands together and repeat with the remaining 3 strands of dough.
-
Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the braided loaves onto the sheet tray. Spray cooking spray on top of them and cover with plastic wrap. Allow the loaves to double in size, about 30 minutes.
-
Beat the remaining egg in a small bowl. Remove the plastic wrap from the top of the loaves. Use a pastry brush to coat the tops of the loaves with the egg. Then sprinkle the white sesame seeds on top. Bake the loaves in the oven for about 30 minutes until they have turned golden brown and are fully cooked through. Enjoy!
